PROJECT SAJAG was designed to nurture informed, value-based youth leadership and strengthen democratic participation at the grassroots level, especially across 30 villages of Barwani district.

Program Objective (Brief Overview)

The objective of SAJAG is to build constitutionally aware and active young citizens who participate meaningfully in Panchayati Raj institutions, promote transparency, and support community-led development processes.

The Challenge

Limited awareness of constitutional rights, weak youth participation in governance, and low engagement in Gram Sabha processes restrict inclusive and transparent local development in rural communities.

Core Interventions

  • Training youth leaders in constitutional literacy and rights awareness
  • Strengthening youth engagement with Panchayati Raj Institutions
  • Promoting active citizenship and value-based leadership
  • Collaboration with women-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for inclusive governance
  • Encouraging youth participation in Gram Sabha and village planning

Impact Delivered

  • 60+ trained youth leaders mobilizing and mentoring 1,200 youth
  • Increased participation in Gram Sabha meetings
  • Improved transparency and accountability in village planning across 30 villages of Barwani
  • Strengthened youth–community–governance linkages

Key Learning

When youth understand the Constitution and see governance as their space — not someone else’s — they shift from being passive beneficiaries to becoming active changemakers.
